Day One

Today I headed out for a tour on foot . . and as soon as I cleared the security point for the hotel I was accosted by no less than 6 guys within 100 metres for trips or tours around the city in their Tuk Tuks . . . They are persistent for sure! Non threatening tho which was good. After a while I used the phrase “No English” and that seemed to make them lose interest a lot quicker! Copped a few stares which is normal but overall feel very safe . . I’ve seen no or sensed no agro from anyone!

I find the security checks at buildings etc .  very strange. Their wands beep etc. as I have metal in my bag but they just motion me on! I’m tempted to load up on cutlery to see what triggers a real response!

I grabbed a quick snap of this guard who warned  a few of the dudes who accosted me to go away .  . They did, 10 meters away waiting for me to exit again later . .  and yes when I did it all happened again!! Ha Ha.

Another funny sight . . . I don’t think there is a Work Safe like body here . . seeing these people climb around this scaffolding at such a height with no safety equipment . . . Geepas!

As for the motorbikes . . . they have no rules. Sorry, there is clearly one - The bloke always controls the bike and as such gets to wear the helmet. Kids or wife when present do not get a helmet.  The best scenes I captured are below. The first with a guy and 3 children . . . the second was 2 blokes having a conversation in chaotic traffic with a German Sheppard straddled across the front!!!! LOL!

In summary, it’s been a great first half day here . . . Hotel, Staff, Food and everything is just great!!! Even requesting bottled water is a breeze . . They just dropped off 6 more . .  the guy even offered me more !!!
Below is not the best pic with the lighting etc . .  but that’s my view this afternoon from the balcony! It’s a pretty green city . . . Oh, and these days most people say “Bangalore” means “Garden City” which is quite apt . . even though there are other more mythical fables as to the meaning . . .
